Nomor Research GmbH illustrates the results from their system level simulator in this video - comparing use of RLNC for layer 2 FEC to conventional AL-FEC schemes in  5G broadcast/ multicast networks. The RLNC scheme provides 100% less application layer packet loss! reduces delay, and avoids application layer packet stalling. RLNC is a key and powerful ingredient for 5G networks, enabling highly efficient, reliable packet delivery.
